Finding Freedom 3

Post  HippoAdmin on Mon 18 Jul 2011, 12:19 pm

The mobile suits hovered as the pilots looked off at the distance of a lone asteroid.

"It's the only one in the area." Phillip said.
"Yeah must be it," responded Viktor.

The four mobile suits slowly began their approach to Freedom 3.

"Why do I have a feeling we're not going to be welcomed.." Leslie commented.
"I too sense something grimm the closer we get." added Conrad.

The pilots landed on the asteroid, right at the entrance to Freedom 3. After the four noticed that their mobile suits wouldn't fit they all existed their suits and regrouped at the entrance hatch, each with their own weapon.

Viktor glared over at Leslie and said, "Hey...no funny business when we're in."
"I'm sorry, comedian is not my occupation hehe." Leslie sarcastically responded.

When the four entered the city they all immediately noticed that the rumors of Freedom 3 were definitely false. The city was a dump with trash and papers on the streets and in the air with the stench almost unbearable. Crumbling buildings could be spotted off in the distance along with graffiti covered houses.

"Over there," Viktor pointed out a sign that had the word "follow" painted in black. The four followed the path as little shadows began to sneak around them.

The path and the painted signs lead the four through a number of city streets which became progressively more filthy and more ruined. Yet a glimpse of the colony's legend remained in the street's names. As they walked past ruined buildings, piles of trash, and signs of abandonment and decay, they rusty street signs that said "Prosperity Ave.", "Hope Street", and so on.

"What a sad place," Viktor remarked. "People come here expecting a better life, and they ended up with... well, this." He gestured to a ruined school building, covered in graffiti, smashed windows, and rubble.

The Alliance soldier turned around to look at the rest of the group. "But I'm more worried that we haven't found any signs of life or even de-" This comment was interrupted by the sound of a gunshot, and a bullet hitting the pavement near them.

Immediately after diving for some nearby cover, Viktor called out to the others. "Jesus Christ! what was that? Can anybody tell where that came from?"

Review the order of posts Leslie, and you'll also notice that you all are not in your mobile suits for this one.

Re: Finding Freedom 3

Post  Conrad Vaugner on Mon 18 Jul 2011, 3:03 pm

Conrad sighed and said "Boy you AGH scum have no perception do you?"

Vaugner calmly toke three steps to his left to lean against a wall of a restaurant that read Alian Ducasse au Plaza Athenee. From the looks of it, this restaurant still looked homey and elegant, with a romantic outdoor setting with street lamps placed amongst the tables, which gave the feel as if to eat next to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

"You can calm down now Tarasov, he can't see you from that angle. The shot clearly came from atop that skyscraper about 200 yards ahead of us. If you ask me, he is a poor shot. Don't know how you can miss a clear shot like that? I mean you walking right in the middle of the street with a big target on your chest, any good marksman would have ended your sad little life there."

At that moment something caught the eye of Conrad as he finished his last remarks. He walked to one of the tables of the restaurant which surprisingly wasn't toppled over like the rest. A bottle of champagne lay on the table.

Conrad grabbed the bottle of champagne " Well this is something you don't see every day, a bottle of Methuselah. This runs around 20,000 credits a bottle. I would say luck is on our side." Vaugner let out a smirk and picked up two glass cups and filled them both with the expensive liquid.

He then fixed two chairs next to the table where the glass of champagne had been poured.

The Frozen Star raised his glass in the direction of Leslie, "Miss Gustav, would you care to join me for a quick drink before we continue on?"

"Air's breathable...hm."

Phillip took his time looking around, then went to lean up against a wall in the resturant.

"Hurry up with that, you two...drink what you've poured, cork it up and save the rest for later. This isn't the time for drinking."

Hippo
Lame.

Leslie took the drink in hand and quickly chugged it down.
Bring that bottle along, I'll need a lot more than that to put up with these guys.

The pilots continued to tread carefully through the city until the signs lead them to a wide alleyway.

Down the alley they saw a man running towards them packed with explosives, "FREEDOM FACTION OR DEATH!" yelled the man as he drew nearer. At the moment many others showed up with machine guns and more explosives.

"What the hell is that suppose to mean," said Conrad.
"Let's just finish them off and quick!" exclaimed Viktor.

Re: Finding Freedom 3

Taking cover behind a dumpster, Viktor primed and lobbed a grenade towards the oncoming group. With a loud bang, the alleyway was cleared, but only for a second. Plenty more aggressors appeared from out of cover, and from the end of the alley.

Viktor leaned out from his safe hiding place and fired a few careful bursts at the enemy, taking a number of them out and forcing the others to take cover again. After a brief moment, the fanatics charged down the alley again, but were all shot by the prepared group of pilots. Just as quickly as the fight had started, it had stopped. But the sense of danger had not left the air.

"Alright, we need to keep moving," Viktor commented. "The moment we stop to relax, or have a drink or anything, we become sitting ducks. I think everybody here can understand that. Let's keep going."

The group continued on the path, stepping around and over the bodies that had just been left in their way. At the end of the alley, they found a wide, open street which was littered with debris and half-destroyed with craters. About a block down the street was a bunch of makeshift barricades and fortifications, upon which "FREEDOM" could be seen written in spray paint.

Not too long after the group makes it to the street, another armed group of about ten emerged out of a storefront next to the barricade. Immediately, one of them shouts, and they all scatter across the street and disappear behind cover.

Things remain quiet, but that is about to change very quickly.

Conrad takes a swig from the bottle of champagne, "I apologize miss Gustav. Looks like we aren't going to be able to finish the rest of this bottle."

At that moment Vaugner ripped a piece of his right sleeve, and stuffed it into the bottle. He then reached into his right pocket and pulled out a lighter with the initials C.V. on it.

"I guess it's a good thing I have good taste in champagne." Conrad chuckled and smiled as he said this. He then lit the piece of sleeve that was visible outside the bottle. As he did this, three of the fanatics opened fire behind a old broken down car.

"Molotov anyone?" The Frozen Star then chucked the cocktail towards the old broken down car where the three who were firing took cover. A huge explosion followed after the bottle struck the car, lighting the car and the three men on fire. They cried and yelled in agony as they rolled around desperately trying to extinguish the fire that engulfed them.

"Lets keep moving forward."

"What a waste...So that's what, thirteen people dead and no closer to answers? I'm glad you're not in the police force."

Phillip kept his pistol drawn, checking the area for anything that looked outright dangerous.

"Future encounters will most likely be less than diplomatic, no thanks to you...man, this is annoying."

Relax, Phillip, I thought I was the only girl here. Next time we'll be sure to ask those bullets that were flying at us what the deal is around here.

Leslie kicked over one of the wounded men and with her pistol pointed at his face, began to question him.

Spit it out shit bag! You all got my outfit dirty and I don't care much for wasting time on pansies!

It was then that she noticed a little foam coming out of her captive's mouth.

Shit it's a cyanide capsule! Spit it out you little bastard!

It was too late. He was dead.

The team decided to give up on any chance of talking with the inhabitants and raced over to the end of the alley. They approached a wall with the words "Freedom Faction Sux" on one side and "Long Live Dean" on the other. A rotting corpse could be seen resting against the wall with a rifle in its hand. The four moved closer and noticed that it had no clothing but was holding a satchel on its shoulder. A sign rested atop the body and read "Don't take this!"

"Grab that and let's go." Viktor said.
