The Power of the Sun

Post  HippoAdmin on Mon 27 Jun 2011, 9:21 am

Mary: We're not going to make it. This is really...the end.
David: Don't say things like that Mary! You're going to scare the younger ones.
Mary: We've been sending the distress call for days now! How can I not think that this is the end for us.

A group of six could be seen hiding from the bright sun underneath a large canvas. Suddenly two mobile suits could be seen approaching, one of them blinding the campers with its bright glow.

Phillip: That's them over there.
Viktor: Yup...hmm heads up, looks like we have someone else helping out.

The Epyon flew past them from above and then stopped.

Leslie: Well boys, we won't be rescuing anyone at this pace. Hahah.

The three mobile suits sped up with the Hyaku Shiki taking the lead.

After each round of posts make sure you all wait for me to post before the next one.

Quest must end before 12:00 AM or no reward will be offered.

"So, Leslie, care to explain the whole trying to kill me thing? It's entertaining and all, but I prefer it when ladies are, you know, not shooting at me on a regular basis."

As the barren landscape of Mercury sped by beneath him, Phillip couldn't help but wonder-why would they camp here, of all places?

"Don't tell me you're going to hold a grudge, Phil, that's kind of a girl thing, ahaha. Maybe I just pick on you cuz I like you is all. Razz "

They continued on their way closer and closer to the stranded group of people. Leslie couldn't see anything beyond 100 meters with all of the sunlight beating down on her Epyon.

Viktor rolled his eyes, and then activated his comm system. "Alright, that's enough that, you kids. We're here to save people, not to play around. Now, Miss 'Queen of Godspeed', or whatever you prefer to be called, since we're on an emergency rescue mission, we're not going to start a fight. And since you seem to have invited yourself along, we'll assume that you won't either, for now. Just don't make any crazy, sudden moves, okay? I don't want this thing to turn into another expensive trip to the repair shop, or a loss of lives."

The Guncannon maintained its speed and position, staying more than a safe distance away from both the Hyaku Shiki and the Epyon. As he carefully watched both the landscape around him, and the movements of the Epyon, Viktor broadcast a message on the emergency channel to all radios and comm in the area.

"This is Lieutenant Tarasov, and I am with an Alliance rescue team. We are answering the distress call from a group of campers and are here to help. If you can hear this, please reply. If you can't reply, please send us some sign so that we can easily locate you."

David: Mary...Mary! Oh my god, look mobile suits in the distance!
Mary: Go round up the teens I'll wave them down!

David ran to the camp site a huge explosion went off.

David: What happened here!?
Vance: One of the ships just imploded! We gotta get out of here before the other ones do.
David: Ok well there are mobile suits coming so hurry.

As Mary ran up ahead a flaming debris struck her in the leg knocking her to ground.

The Hyaku Shiki landed in front of Mary.
"Victory, Leslie, handle the rest. I've got a wounded woman here."

Phillip hopped out of his MS as it knelt to the ground, and carefully lifted the woman up before jumping back inside and closing the hatch.
"Gotta love low gravity...alright, let's look at this.."
A few pushes on the controls got the the cockpit pressurized. Looking over it, it was a pretty nasty wound-a jagged piece of metal was lodged in her leg, just above the ankle.
"Ma'am, my names Phillip, I'll be your knight in shining armor today. Don't look at your leg. Mind telling me your name while I find the morphine?"

"Ay ay, Captain..." Leslie responded with a middle finger. Rolling Eyes

She grabbed an empty storage container with her epyon and started hurrying the people into it so that she could transport them away from the site.

As the campsite erupted into a flurry of movement and chaos, Viktor's mind sprung into action. In an instant, the topic that had just previously been on his mind became petty and insignificant.

"Alright..." The Lieutenant spoke to himself, "Phillip's got the injured taken care of, our guest is taking care of the others. What else needs immediate attention?"

The burning wreckage of one of the camper's ships and the other, soon-to-be-burning, ships caught his eye. Tarasov accelerated his Guncannon as fast as he could towards the most damaged, but intact ship. In this unorthodox, perhaps foolhardy maneuver, the Mobile Suit picks up the ship with the assistance of momentum and the low-gravity environment and flies into the air with it.

The whole campsite began to turn into flames creating a hug force that headed towards the mobile suits. The ship in the Guncannon's hands also began to burn up.

Mary: Thank you so much for rescuing me, Mr. Phillip. I hope the others are alright. Hurry and get us off this planet!

"We've got to get out of here!"

Leslie cradled the container in the arms of the Epyon, shielding it from the blast.

"Hai, hai...Here you go, by the way." Phillip injected a syringe into the woman's arm, then took up a position in the pilot seat with her in his lap.
"You should relax a bit. The anti-beam coating on this thing works through ablation, so we're a bit safer off than the others. Still, no reason to stick around, is there? We'll get that metal out of your leg once we're at a proper medical facility."

The Hyaku Shiki took off, slowly picking up speed until it had its thrusters at maximum.
"Right then everyone, let's head home."

Re: The Power of the Sun

The Guncannon threw the burning ship into the distance, where it promptly exploded upon impact with the ground. With a sigh, Viktor landed the Mobile Suit and turned around to look at the scene of the campground. Flames were everywhere.

"This was a lot worse than I expected to be." Pausing for a moment to take everything in, he realized something. "...I don't think we could have handled this one completely on our own."

But still, the danger around him meant that there was no time to have a deep, introspective moment. Instead, the pilot made his exit along with the other members of the rescue team.

Activating his comm unit, Viktor spoke to the other pilots. "Alright, you two did a job. We should take these people to the North Pole, that's the closest settlement." With that said, he reached to turn his mic back off, but he stopped himself, to say one last thing.

"...Miss Gustav, I should actually thank you for helping us out here. If it were just Philip and I, I think things might have gone a lot worse. So, uh, forget about what I said earlier. I suppose in the end, we're just all human and that's what matters in times like this."
